Día Nacional de la Pupusa
The pupusa is more than just food in El Salvador. Every second Sunday of November, Salvadorans celebrate the dish with a festival featuring pupusa eating contests and other related activities. The celebration has made its mark on American culture; many cities with large populations of Salvadorans have adopted the holiday.
One of the most fascinating traditions featured in the festivals is the cooking of an extra large pupusa. These giant pupusas can range from five feet in diameter to ten.
